Chicken Hot Wings | Nashville Hot Chicken | How To Make Spicy Chicken Wings

Chicken Hot Wings or Nashville Hot Chicken is irresistibly delicious and super addictive, crispy fried chicken where the chicken is marinated in buttermilk along with spicy mix, fried, and then the crunchy chicken wings are tossed in hot sauce.

Ingredients

For the Nashville Spice Mix (yields 1 cup)

  • 3 tablespoon Cayenne powder or Red chile powder
  • ½ cup Paprika or Kashmiri Red chile powder
  • 2 tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon Salt

For the Marination

  • 250 ml Yogurt or thick Buttermilk
  • cup Nashville spice mix (from above)
  • 1 kg Chicken wings (3 pounds)

Dredging Chicken

  • cup Nashville spice mix
  • cups All-purpose flour or Maida
  • 1 tablespoon Salt

Nashville Hot Sauce or Hot oil

  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • ¼ cup Oil
  • cup Nashville spice mix.

Other ingredients

  • Oil , for frying

Creamy Dip

  • cup Yogurt (Hung or thick)
  • cup Mayonnaise

Instructions

How To Make Nashville Hot Spice Mix?

  • In a bowl, add cayenne powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin powder, salt, and mix. Yields 1 cup of Nashville spice powder.
    3 tablespoon Cayenne powder, ½ cup Paprika, 2 tablespoon Garlic powder, 1 tablespoon Onion powder, 1 teaspoon Cumin powder, 1 tablespoon Salt
  • Divide this spice mix into 3 portions and keep it aside.

Making Of Chicken Marinade

  • In a bowl, add buttermilk or yogurt along with ⅓ cup of Nashville spice powder and mix well. To this, add chicken wings and toss until combined.
    250 ml Yogurt, ⅓ cup Nashville spice mix, 1 kg Chicken wings
  • Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours for the best result. Preferably for atleast 1 hour.

Dredging Chicken Wings

  • Add flour, ⅓ cup of Nashville spice mix, and salt in a bowl and mix well.
    ⅓ cup Nashville spice mix, ⅔ cups All-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon Salt
  • To this, add marinated chicken wings (from above) one at a time and dredge them nicely in the flour so that they are coated well. Keep it aside for 2 to 3 minutes so that the flour adheres well to the chicken wings.

Making Of Crispy & Crunchy Fried Nashville Hot Chicken

  • Heat oil in a pan on a medium flame for frying.

  • Once the oil is hot, add 5 to 6 chicken wings depending on the size of the pan and cook on medium to medium-high flame for 10 minutes or until the skin becomes deep golden in color and crispy on the outside. Flip halfway through the frying process, around 4 or 5-minute mark. Check out the video here.
  • Transfer to a paper towel to absorb any excess oil, and then place them over wire racks to keep the wings crispy for a longer time.

Making Of Nashville Hot Sauce Or Spicy Oil

  • Melt butter in a pan. To this, add oil and the remaining ⅓ cup of Nashville spice mix. Stir well.
    2 tablespoon Butter, ¼ cup Oil, ⅓ cup Nashville spice mix.
  • Drizzle this hot sauce on top of each fried wing, and you are done.
  • To make a simple creamy dip, add yogurt and mayonnaise to a bowl and mix well. Serve this as a dip along with the wings.
