Ingredients

For the dough

  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • 2 cup Milk warm
  • 4.5 cup All purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

For coating

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon powder
  • ½ cup Butter unsalted, melted

For syrup

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ½ cup Water
  • ¼ teaspoon Cardamom powder or Cinnamon powder

For garnish

  • 2 tablespoon Cashews and Almonds, roasted

Instructions

Step 1

  • In a large bowl add warm milk, teaspoon of sugar and sprinkle active dry yeast into it. Cover, and let the yeast activate. This will take approximately 10 minutes.
¾ cup Sugar, 2 cup Milk, 1.5 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • Now add the remaining sugar, salt and flour and mix it until you have a loose sticky dough. Then knead it for atleast 10 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic.
¾ cup Sugar, ½ teaspoon Salt, 4.5 cup All purpose flour
  • Grease a large bowl with vegetable oil. Transfer the dough and cover it. Place it in a warm place for about 1 hour or until the dough is doubled in size.

Step 2

  • In a plate add sugar and cinnamon powder and mix well. In another bowl, melt the butter. Grease the bundt pan with some melted butter.
1 cup Brown Sugar, 1 tablespoon Cinnamon powder, ½ cup Butter
  • Once the dough has doubled in size, take small pieces of dough and roll them to lemon-sized balls.
  • Roll each ball in the melted butter, then in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and drop it in the bundt pan. Keep repeating the process until all the dough is used up.
  • Cover this and keep it in warm place for 30 to 40 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

Step 3

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until done. Let it cool down for about 10 minutes. Then run a knife around the bundt pan and turn it onto the serving plate.

Step 4

  • In large bowl add sugar and water and heat till you see the bubble. Now add the cardamom powder.
1 cup Sugar, ½ cup Water, ¼ teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • Drizzle this syrup on the bread and garnish it with roasted almond and cashews. Monkey Bread is ready. Pull apart to serve and enjoy!
    2 tablespoon Cashews

Notes

Some expert chef tips to help you make the best gooey monkey bread:
  • Make sure your ingredients, especially the milk and butter, are at room temperature before you start making the dough. This will help the dough come together more easily and rise properly.
  • It's important not to over-knead the dough, as this can result in a tough and dense bread. Knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic, but don't overdo it.
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free place until it has doubled in size. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the temperature and humidity in your kitchen.
  • Use a bundt pan, as it helps the bread cook evenly and ensures that the pieces stick together.
  • After the bread comes out of the oven, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a serving platter. This will help the bread hold its shape and prevent it from falling apart.
  • Create your own unique version of monkey bread by using different spices, fruits, nuts, or even add a layer of caramel or chocolate sauce for an extra indulgent treat.
