Wash and soak the rice in water for about 1 to 2 hours and drain them.
1 cup Rice
I have used 3 small riped bananas. You can even use 1 large banana.
4 small Ripe Bananas
Grind the soaked rice, 2 bananas , poha, coconut, jaggery adding very little water to form smooth paste.
2 tablespoon Poha, 3 tablespoon Coconut, ¾ cup Jaggery
Transfer this to bowl. Add semolina or sooji rava (optional), baking soda, cardamom powder, pinch of salt and mix well. The batter should be of medium thick consistency.
1 tablespoon Semolina, ¼ teaspoon Cardamom powder, ¼ teaspoon Baking soda, Salt
Let the batter rest for 1 hour for better result. You can also cook the appos immediately if desired.
Chop and add remaining banana to the batter and mix well.
4 small Ripe Bananas
Heat appe pan and add butter or ghee into all the holes. Pour the batter on each holes, cover with the lid and allow it to cook in medium flame.
2 tablespoon Butter
When it is cooked from one side turn and cook on the other side adding butter till its golden brown on both the sides.
Repeat the process for remaining batter.
Sweet Rice Appo is ready. Serve hot with ghee and enjoy.
