Instructions

Prepare the sandwich

  • In a small bowl, add nut butter and sriracha sauce and mix well. Taste and adjust the sweetness and spiciness accordingly.
2 to 3 tablespoon Crunchy nut butter, ½ to 1 ½ tablespoon Sriracha sauce
  • I have sliced the avocado for today's recipe. You can even mash it.
    1 Avocado
  • Spread the crunchy cashew butter-sriracha mix evenly over one side of two slices of bread.
    2 Sourdough bread slices
  • Place two slices of provolone cheese on one bread.
  • Layer the avocados and strawberries.
    3 to 4 Strawberries
  • Place the remaining two slices of provolone cheese on top. (optional)
    2 Provolone cheese slice
  • Close the sandwich with the nut butter side of another bread on top of the cheese (or avocado and strawberries if you are skipping cheese).

Grilled sandwich

  • Heat the skillet on medium heat. Brush it with butter.
    Butter for the pan.
  • Place the sandwich and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until the bread becomes golden and the cheese melts properly. Use butter as needed.
  • Allow the sandwich to rest for 1 minute before slicing.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Reduce the heat to low if the bread is getting brown too quickly and the cheese is not fully melted.
  • Instead of provolone, mozzarella, gouda, cheddar, or Swiss cheese can be used.
  • I have used crunchy cashew butter in the recipe. You can use peanut butter or almond butter.
  • Reduce the amount of sriracha if you prefer less heat.
