Homemade Tomato Juice Recipe

Homemade Tomato Juice is a delicious and versatile drink made from fresh tomatoes and spices of your choice. It can served as a plain drink, as a base for soup, or in cocktails like Bloody Mary, Caesar, or Michelada.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Tomatoes ripe, cored, and chopped, approx 1 ½ kg
  • ½ cup Celery chopped, optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper powder to taste

To flavor the juice

  • 1 tablespoon Sugar to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin powder to taste
  • 2 Green chilies slit
  • 1 inch Ginger minced
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • Lemon juice of ½ of lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Cilantro basil, parsley chopped

Other optional ingredients that you can add

  • Onion powder
  • Cayenne or Red chile powder
  • Celery salt

For virgin bloody mary

  • 2 to 4 dash of hot sauce like Tabasco sauce
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • ice cubes celery, or pickles for serving

Instructions

How to make tomato juice in a blender?

  • Add the tomatoes and celery to a large pot. Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 20 minutes or until the mixture becomes soupy. Let this cool completely.
    3 pounds Tomatoes, ½ cup Celery
  • Transfer this to a blender and blend it to a smooth paste. Add this to a pot.
  • Add water to get the desired juice consistency, along with salt, pepper, sugar, cumin powder, green chilies, ginger, lemon zest, lemon juice, and cilantro, and mix well. Taste check and adjust spices if needed.
    Salt, Pepper powder, 1 tablespoon Sugar, ½ teaspoon Cumin powder, 2 Green chilies, 1 inch Ginger, 1 teaspoon Lemon zest, Lemon juice of ½ of lemon, 1 tablespoon Cilantro
  • Refrigerate for atleast one hour so that the flavors are combined.
  • Serve with ice cubes and enjoy.

Notes

  • Add the spices that you like.
  • Based on the sweetness of the Tomato, you can adjust the sugar.
  • The juice may thicken when you refrigerate. So, adjust the consistency by adding water.
  • To make virgin bloody mary, simply add a dash of hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce to the tomato juice.
