    SPROUTED MOONG CHAAT

    Sprouted Moong Chaat is healthy, spicy and colorful chaat recipe. Moong is good source of protein and calcium. If you are chaat lover and want to try out healthy and fat free recipe then don't miss to try this out.

    Preparation time : 20 minutes
    Serves : 3

    Ingredients for Sprouted Moong Chaat

    Sprouted moong / Green gram - 1 ½ cups
    Potato cut into cubes - 1
    Tomato finely chopped - 1
    Onion finely chopped  - 1 ( reserve 1 tablespoon for garnish)
    Ginger grated - 1 inch
    Garlic  finely chopped - 3 cloves
    Green Chili finely chopped - 2
    Vegetable Oil - 1 tbsp
    Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
    Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
    Curry leaves - 4
    Asafoetida/Hing - ⅛ tsp
    Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
    Red Chili flakes - 1 tsp
    Red Chili powder - 1 tsp
    Garam masala - ¼ tsp
    Chaat masala - 1 tsp
    Water - ¼ cup

    For garnish - Finely chopped onions, tomatoes, yogurt/curd, chopped coriander/cilantro leaves, red chili powder, chat masala, and sev.

    Steps to Prepare Sprouted Moong Chaat
    • In a pan on medium heat add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, turmeric powder, red chili flakes and hing. Saute until mustard seeds splutter.
    • Add onions, garlic, green chilis, grated ginger and saute until onion turns light brown. Add potatoes and tomatoes, and cook for 5 minutes.
    • Add sprouted moong dal, red chili powder, garam masala, chat masala and mix gently. Add ¼ cup water, then cover and cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.

    This chat may be served warm or cold. To serve, plate the cooked moong dal on a serving platter, add a tablespoon of yogurt, chopped onions, tomatoes, chat masala, chili powder, sev and coriander leaves. Enjoy!

    How to Sprout Moong

    • Wash and soak moong dal overnight in water. next morning drain completely.
    • Cover and keep it in warm place for another day. Depending on weather it might take a day or two.
