Welcome to Cook with Kushi. A food blog on simple and easy cooking recipes.
"There is no sincere Love than Love of food" George Bernard Shaw.
Hi, I'm Sridevi! I am a Software Engineer by qualification, a full-time Food Blogger by passion, a self-published Author, and a mom to 2 handsome young boys.
About the blog
I know cooking does not come easy, and if you hate to cook, you will just avoid it. I loved helping my mom in the kitchen from my school days and continue to do it even now when I visit India. When I started cooking on my own, I began trying out recipes from different cuisines worldwide, often with my variations to it.
My husband supports me a lot in my little kitchen "experiments," and he is also my best critic. Some of these dishes have created lovely memories for both of us. Therefore, I started noting down the recipes and then decided why not share my collection with the rest of the world - the result is my blog Cook with Kushi.
What will you find on Cook with Kushi
Being a Konkani, I have a strong love for food such as Alvati, Tori Gashi, Panchkadayi, Ponsa Mulik, Undi, Khotto, Bibbo Batate Hinga Udda, Dalithoy, Mooga gashi, etc., served during different festivities both at home and at temples. However, after coming to the USA, I miss those special occasions a lot. Sometimes when I cannot control the craving for a particular Konkani dish, I immediately call my mother to ask for her recipe and try to replicate and recreate those beautiful old memories.
Being an Indian, I share popular Indian recipes, tried, tested, and loved by my family. If you are new to cooking, you can start from here - Indian breakfast recipes. This is just a snippet of what you will find on my blog, so read on.
Baking and western recipes
You will find a lot of baking recipes in my blog. But frankly, I did not know anything about baking, nor I had an oven at my home during childhood. After seeing and also trying out a variety of bread and cakes at stores here in the USA, I decided to give baking a shot. I love the entire process of baking so much that I bake bread every week and post it every Wednesday. From my experience, homemade bread is always tastier than store-bought ones. I encourage everyone to start baking at home; I am sure you will also love it. Not just bread, you can also find recipes for some of the best casseroles, Mexican recipes, different types of pasta, pizzas, salads, soups, and more.
The pictures in my earlier blog posts were taken using a cell phone camera, and I have recently started using a DSLR camera. Therefore, I will update the pictures as and when I repeat the old recipes.
My readers often ask me on what I mostly do during my free time. Well, during my free time, I watch a lot of food and travel shows, and it keeps inspiring me to try out recipes from different cuisines. I also believe in a healthy lifestyle, so I do light workouts, Zumba, and other dance forms.
