Honey lemon ginger tea (kadha)
Honey lemon ginger tea is a simple and refreshing homemade drink passed on to us by our grandmothers. In India, drinks made using fresh herbs and spices are called kadha (kashayam).
We used cinnamon, bay leaf, cloves, ginger, mint leaves, turmeric, lemon juice, and honey to make this instant ginger tea. You can also call it honey ginger tea, ginger cinnamon lemon tea, ginger mint tea etc.
Ginger tea is believed to give relief from cough and sore throat, is a warm drink best for cold weather, and is good during pregnancy, especially for nausea (suggested to me by a doctor. consult your doctor if you have concerns)
Ingredients
Spices: cinnamon, bay leaf, and cloves are added as they enhance the flavor.
Ginger: fresh ginger root grated or crushed for best results.
Mint: gives fresh flavor.
Turmeric: Fresh turmeric root is preferred when making drinks like kadha. But if unavailable, use the powder.
Lemon: brightens the flavor.
Honey: If you would like to have it sweet.
