Thai Roti Bread is a easy to make and tasty bread recipe prepared using flour and milk. This bread can be served with any curry for lunch / dinner / breakfast. Thai food is my all time favorite and love to try different recipes from thai cuisine and I do it more frequently. I have served this bread with tofu bhurji and its delicious. Its really worth a try.

Kushi
Yes, you can!

Made this today using my bread maker and it turned out very well, I used Ghee instead of oil.
Great recipe that I have already passed on to others, thanks very much.
Kushi
Thank you so much Julie 🙂

Can it be made ahead? Before frying?
Kushi
Yes, you can. If you plan to fry it in 3-4 hours then you can roll the breads, and stack them by placing a parchment paper between each and then cover completely using a dry and clean kitchen towel to prevent it from drying up. You can also freeze if you prefer. I think either way parchment paper is the key as it prevents the rolled flat breads from sticking to one another.

This is a terrific, simple recipe. I have changed it ever so slightly by using about a third quantity of Gram flour and using gram flour to dust the surfaces when I'm rolling out the discs. My family love these.

This was fantastic! I never knew how easy this was to make, I think I'll be having it with every meal now 😀 I've made slightly too much dough though, is there a good way to store it? Thanks for the great recipe!!
Kushi
Thank you so much. I am glad you liked it. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in refrigerator. Use it in a day or 2. Thaw for half an hour before rolling. However, it tastes best when its fresh 🙂
Kaiya
Thank you so much! I usually do prefer it fresh, but I've been very busy with university and it's a nice treat to look forwards to after a long day 🙂

Does it store well or is it only to be eaten fresh?
Kushi
Best eaten fresh. You can store in refrigerator for 1 or 2 days but make sure you preheat them before serving.

Although there are only a few ingredients in these roti they are lovely and so easy to make. Great with Thai curry but I could eat these alone. Far nicer than shop bought ones. Thank you for a lovely easy recipe.

Just to clarify, you increase the water to 1/2 cup AND add 1/2 cup coconut milk for a vegan version?
Kushi
you mean 1/4 cup right? Yes add 1/4 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of any nondairy milk of your choice or simply skip the milk and prepare the dough with 1/2 cup of water. I hope I am clear now 🙂
John
Ok… I was going to use coconut milk in place of dairy milk, so 1/4 water and 1/4 cup coconut milk, or just 1/2 cup water.
Kushi
You can use 1/4 water and 1/4 coconut milk OR 1/2 cup water OR 1/2 cup milk too. Add flour in increments and knead to get smooth dough.
Teresa Konopka
I made this to accompany thai coconut curry and it was wonderful. Thank you for the great recipe.
