The sweet version of appe is mainly prepared on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi or sankashti chaturthi.

    What is appe or Paniyaram?

Appe is popular South Indian breakfast recipe prepared in both sweet and savory form using rice, wheat flour or rava (sooji, semolina) as main ingredient.

Appo is known by various names in Southern India, including paddu, appe, guliappa, Kuzhi paniyaram. Appo is prepared in different variations using wheat flour, semolina. You can click here for instant wheat appe or instant banana appe or paniyaram.

And one good news, you if have leftover dosa idli batter, you can also cook appe or paniyaram using same batter. CHECK HERE FOR IDLI DOSA BATTER RECIPE

My  family's favorite among all is appo prepared using rice. This is soft and tasty with full of flavor. It gets over in no time. Make sure that you prepare it in plenty. Don't hold back on ghee / melted butter while cooking appos because this enhances the flavor.
