American Flag Dessert
To make this American Flag jello layer dessert, you can use any flavored jello to get the colors you want. I love to use strawberry for red and blueberry for blue. You can even go with cherry or raspberry for the red color. I use agar-agar or unflavored gelatin mixed with milk, cream, and vanilla extract for the white jello layer. These days, pina colada jello is also available and can be used to make the white layer.
Kids will enjoy not only eating this but also making it. Though putting everything together is easy, it is time-consuming because after creating every layer, you will have to wait for an hour for it to set. But the end result makes it worth it.

This red, white, and blue dessert is not only for the Fourth of July; you can also serve it for all patriotic holidays like Memorial Day.

Making of the blue layer

For the white layer

- Soak the china grass or agar agar in water for 5 minutes and drain.
- Add the soaked and drained china grass to another pan containing water, and stir over medium heat until the agar agar or china grass is completely dissolved. To this, add cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract and bring it to a boil.
- Pour this over the blue layer and refrigerate for another 1 hour.
For the red layer

- In the pan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. To this, add a box full of red jello crystals and mix.
- Pour this over the white layer and return it to the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- The jello dessert is ready to serve in 1 hour. Jello tastes the best when served chilled.

Tips
- Allow each layer to set. Patience is key. Fully set layers prevent colors from mixing.
- Clear cups create a beautiful presentation perfect for themed parties.
- This jello tastes the best when chilled overnight, making it ideal for holidays.
- You can add sliced strawberries and blueberries for freshness.
- You can even decorate the top with whipped cream and berries arranged in an American flag pattern.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Do not freeze, as gelatin will change its texture.
