Vegan Apple Dates Bread is a soft and moist, super delicious bread or loaf cake recipe prepared using fresh apples, dates and basic ingredients from your kitchen. This is the best, simple and healthy apple cake recipe ever that you are going to make!

The fresh homemade diced apple sauce not only enhances the flavor but also makes it moist. The combined natural sweetness of the dates, apples and coconut milk makes this bread a standout over any store bought bread. I have added cashews, almonds, and raisins to the bread recipe, as I love the unique texture and crunchiness they provide to the bread. This bread pairs well with hot coffee/tea/milk, but can also be served as a dessert.
For non-vegan version you can substitute coconut milk with whole milk, and vegetable oil with butter. Rest of the recipe remains the same. Also try eggless dates cake.

Vegan Apple Dates Bread | Apple Dates Loaf Cake
Ingredients
- 3 large Apples , medium sized
- 1 cup Sugar , divided
- 25 Dates , pitted
- 1 ½ cups Coconut milk (check tips, any dairy-free milk)
- 1 ½ cups All purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoon Baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 4 tablespoon Oil
- 1 tablespoon Almonds ,chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Cashews , chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Raisins
Instructions
Step 1
- Wash and peel the apples and finely chop them.3 large Apples
- In a non-stick pan on medium flame, add the chopped apples, ½ cup of sugar, sprinkle some water and cover to cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the apples are soft.1 cup Sugar
Step 2
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9-inch square pan or 2 mini bread loaf pan and keep them aside
- In a blender, blend together dates and coconut milk (almond milk ) to form a thick and smooth paste. Transfer this to a big bowl.25 Dates, 1 ½ cups Coconut milk
- To the same bowl, add all purpose flour, baking soda, salt, oil and remaining ½ cup of sugar and mix once.1 ½ cups All purpose flour, 1 ½ teaspoon Baking soda, ¼ teaspoon Salt, 4 tablespoon Oil, 1 cup Sugar
- Then add chopped almonds, cashews, raisins and the prepared apple sauce (from step 1) and mix till its combined. Do not overmix.1 tablespoon Almonds, 1 tablespoon Cashews, 1 tablespoon Raisins
Step 3
- Pour the batter onto a greased baking pan and bake for about 30 – 40 minutes or until a knife inserted into the bread comes out clean. The baking time for mini loaves is around 20 to 25 minutes.
- Let the bread rest for at least 5 to 10 minutes before inverting it to a serving platter. Let it cool down completely before you slice it.
- Vegan Apple Dates Bread is now ready. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- The color of the bread may vary depending on the dates used.
- You can substitute coconut milk with any diary free milk.
- For non-vegan version you can substitute coconut milk with whole milk, and vegetable oil or coconut oil with butter.
- I have used seedless dates in this recipe. You can also reduce or increase the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of the dates and apples.
- Use any baking pan of desired shape. The baking time for the bread or cake will vary accordingly.
- If you like your bread with no nuts skip adding almonds and cashews.

Can I use date purée .. if so how much qty.. TIA

Vidhya, I guess about 1/2 to 3/4 cup should be fine. You may have to adjust depending on the concentration and consistency of the puree. Let me know how it turns out!

I have a query, in the ingredient column you had mentiond 'coconut milk' but in step 2 , you have mentioned 'almond milk'.

Add around 3/4 cup of apple sauce and reduce coconut milk to 1 to 1 1/4 cup. Else your cake / bread may become soggy. Do let me know how this turned out.
