    Equipment

    • Pan

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound Green beans washed and trimmed
    • 2 to 4 tablespoon All purpose flour
    • 1 ½ cups Bread crumbs saltine, or crushed crackers
    • ½ to 1 teaspoon Salt adjust to taste
    • ½ teaspoon Red chile powder or Cayenne
    • ½ teaspoon Garlic powder optional
    • ½ teaspoon Onion powder optional
    • 1 Egg. Use aquafaba for a vegan version

    Instructions

    Preparation

    • Coat the green beans in flour so that they are lightly coated.
1 pound Green beans, 2 to 4 tablespoon All purpose flour
    • Nicely whisk the egg in one bowl and keep it aside.
    • Add bread crumbs, salt, chile powder, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl, and mix.
1 ½ cups Bread crumbs, ½ to 1 teaspoon Salt, ½ teaspoon Red chile powder or Cayenne, ½ teaspoon Garlic powder, ½ teaspoon Onion powder
    • Dip the green beans in egg and coat them with the mixture of breadcrumbs.
      1 Egg.

    Deep-fried green beans

    • Heat oil in a pan for frying on medium flame.
    • Fry the beans in hot oil in batches for about 5 to 6 minutes or until the crust becomes golden.
    • Drain the fries onto tissue paper to absorb any excess oil.
    • Repeat the process for the remaining beans.
    • Serve the fries warm, and enjoy.

    Oven-baked green beans

    • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Coat sheet pan with cooking spray.
    • Line the breaded green beans on a single layer in sheet pan.Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until coating becomes golden and beans are tender.

    Air fry green beans

    • Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F.
    • Place the coated green beans on the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 5 minutes, turning them halfway through.

    Notes

    • You can use panko bread crumbs, cornmeal, crushed saltine, or crackers instead of bread crumbs.
    • See that the oil is not too hot or too cold. If it's too hot, then the fries will turn dark brown very quickly, and if it's too cold, it will absorb excess oil.
    • To check if the oil is hot, drop a little piece of the cracker mix and check if it sizzles and comes up.
    • Do not overcrowd the pan. Once you drop the green beans in oil, leave it undisturbed for 1 to 2 minutes.
    • Use dried herbs and spices of your choice while making these fries.
    • Serve this hot, or else the coating will become softer after some time.

    Crispy green beans

Green bean fries are the best alternative to classic french fries. The green beans are tossed in flour, dipped in egg (aquafaba for the vegan version), coated in the breadcrumbs, seasoned with spices like onion, garlic, chile powder, and herbs, and then baked or fried until crisp and golden brown. Serve this as a side with your favorite burger or as a finger food with your cocktails or mocktails.

We love green bean fries with avocado toast, mac and cheese, or grilled cheese sandwiches. I have added deep fry, air fryer, and oven instructions.

    Ingredients

    • Fresh green beans washed and end trimmed.
    • All-purpose flour to coat the beans.
    • Bread crumbs seasoned with your favorite herbs and spices. You can also use panko bread crumbs for extra crunch.
    • The egg acts as a binder and helps the breadcrumbs stick to the beans.
