Oats is high in fiber and therefore helps in lowering cholesterol levels. Wheat flour is a rich source of essential nutrients.

For people who watch weight this is one such recipe that is a must try. I prepare flat breads often as they are simple, healthy and requires very minimal ingredients. You can cook this chapati dry or even use butter or oil as desired. If you want to make it even more tastier then add finely chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, coriander leaves / cilantro while preparing the dough.

Today I have served it with onion capsicum masala and will soon share the recipe for the same.

My other favorite accompaniments for breads and flatbreads like naan, roti, pita, tortilla are:
  • Grilled meats like Tikka and kebabs
  • Hummus
  • Butter Chicken
  • Chana Masala (chole or chickpeas curry)
  • Chicken Tikka
  • Paneer Tikka Masala (Tofu Tikka Masala)
  • Spicy Garlic mushrooms – popular on blog
  • Mushroom Butter masala – popular on blog
  • Mushroom in black pepper sauce (mushroom kali mirch)
  • Tandoori Gobi (Oven Roasted Cauliflower)
  • Palak Paneer

I can go on because any simple curry will go well with this bread 🙂 But now let me stop and give the simple recipe for oats chapati.

Beautifully made chapati. I too try to add stuff like flax seed meal while making chapati. But never tried using oats. I guess it would have added more flavor to the chapati as well 🙂

I can’t eat any grain other than oats. Can I just use oat flour or replace the wheat flour with coconut flour?

Thanks for the recipe! I made this today and they tasted great. However, they were a bit tough and not as soft like the traditional chapati.

Hi, if i make these in large batch.. how many days can i store it for? And do i have to refrigerate them?

I would recommend refrigerating it, if your are using after 24 hours. Helps in retaining moisture (softness) and freshness.
