Indian sweets use fresh grated coconut, enhancing the dish's flavor. But you can easily substitute it with frozen or dry shredded sweetened coconut flakes. And dry shredded coconut flakes are the best while making desserts like macaroons. So, based on the dish you are going to make, add fresh or dry coconut.
