Jackfruit Recipes - Create simple, easy, best breakfast, dinner, or dessert recipes with tropical fruit. Jackfruit is the new, best, and most fibrous vegan and vegetarian alternative to meat.
How to eat Jackfruit?
This tropical fruit can be consumed in a variety of ways.
Ripe Jackfruit: Jackfruit tastes the best when ripe, as its flesh is super sweet and juicy. You can consume it as it is for a quick evening snack or use it to make smoothies, desserts, and Indian sweets.
Unripe Jackfruit: This has a stringy and meat-like texture, thus making it a trending ingredient for your meatless diet. Use it to make stir fry, curry, vegan pulled pork, and more.
Jackfruit seeds: can be sundried and used to make traditional village-style curries, hummus, and soups or oven roast and used as a crunchy snack.

While you are here, also check out how jackfruit leaves are weaved into the basket and used as a mold to steam a popular Indian breakfast called idli (khotto).

How to cut Jackfruit?
Jackfruit has a sticky sap, making it difficult to remove from your hands or utensils. So always grease your knife and hand with oil like coconut or grapeseed, or use gloves to coat your hands.
Cut the Jackfruit into half with a sharp knife. Remove the core and the seeds. Remove the white fibrous string for unripe green Jackfruit and use it as desired in the recipe. For ripe Jackfruit, peel the flesh away and cut into the desired size.
Jackfruit benefits
- Jackfruit is a rich source of dietary fiber.
- Rich in antioxidants - good source of vitamin C and vitamin A.
- The potassium helps lower your blood pressure and helps avoid heart disease or stroke.
Jackfruit recipes Asian
This tropical fruit is used in Asian cuisine, popularly used in Indian cuisine during monsoon.

Ripe, fresh, and sweet Jackfruit is used to make traditional Indian and Thailand sweets like kheer and payasam, where the Jackfruit is mixed with coconut milk and sugar or jaggery, mulik (donut holes), halwa, and more.
You can also use ripe and fresh jackfruits to make jackfruit idli or cake for breakfast.

Recipe FAQs
Like any other fruit, jackfruit is the best when enjoyed fresh, ripe, and juicy. You can use it to make smoothies, ice cream, and more.
Jackfruit can be eaten fresh; unripe ones are the best meat alternatives and can be used to make burgers, tacos, curries, stir-fries, chips, and more. Riped ones make desserts and sweets, jams, jellies, and smoothies.
The best way to cook young and green unripe ones is to pressure cook or to cook on your Instant Pot. Later using a fork or fingers, shred them into small pieces. This is used as a meat substitute.
