Peach is one of my favorite fruit and I love them in any form. I even had peach craving during my pregnancy and the smell of this fruit drives me crazy 🙂 Whenever this fruit is fresh and succulent and on sale, I buy them in big batches. I have almost tried all the recipes that I can do with this fruit. The good and happy part is my little one also loves this fruit and accompanies me with his cute smile in sharing the same.

I love making apple fritters at home. But with little one's activities we hardly get time for anything. So for a change we recently got some apple fritters from a local bakery. We really had a very bad experience. It's either too sweet, too oily or not fresh. So we decided not to buy anymore and make it at home.

Peach Fritters / July 4th recipe / Summer Recipes

As I had some ripe peaches in my pantry, I prepared a small batch of peach fritters and glazed it. It turned out so good with no compromise in taste and texture. It was a big hit! My husband loved it so much that on his way back from office the next day, he got home another big batch of fresh peaches and asked me to prepare peach fritter again, while he took care of the little one in return 🙂 I bet these will become a favorite in your house too.

Make these bite size peach fritters at home and I am sure you will never go back to those bakery ones, plus there won't be any left. So make sure you reserve some for yourself before you serve.

By the way what are your plans for 4th of July? We have already planned to attend a potluck + barbecue party at our close friends place. I am planning to prepare 2 or 3 pies for which I will soon be sharing the recipe (stay tuned 🙂 ). I will also prepare a batch of peach fritters so that everyone gets to try something different and delicious.

You can serve these for breakfast, snack or as a dessert. I highly recommend you to try out this recipe, specially if you are peach lover like me.

    Ingredients for Peach Fritters

Peaches chopped - 3 (medium sized)
    Sour cream - ½ cup
    Whole milk - ½ cup
    Baking powder - 2 tsp
    Salt - 1 tsp
    Egg - 1
    Sugar - 3 tbsp
    Cinnamon powder - ½ tsp
    All purpose flour - 1  ½ cup
    Melted butter -  2 tbsp
    Vegetable oil - for frying

    For the glaze
    Confectioners sugar - ½ cup
    Milk -1  tbsp

    Steps to prepare Peach Fritters

    Step I

    • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan on a medium flame for frying, while preparing the batter.
    • In a big bowl, add in sour cream and whole milk and whisk.
    • Next add baking powder, salt, egg, sugar, cinnamon powder and beat till everything comes together.
    • To this add flour, melted butter and mix until combined. Do not over mix. Next, add peaches and fold them into the batter using a spatula. The consistency of the batter will be similar to any cake batter – not too dry and not too runny – but in between.

    Step II

    • Once the oil is hot, drop 1 or 2 heaped tablespoon of batter and fry till they are golden brown on both the sides for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
    • Fry in smaller batches so that they are not over crowded and are cooked evenly.
    • Transfer it to paper towel to absorb any excess oil. Let this cool for about 10 minutes.
    • Meanwhile prepare the glaze : in a bowl, add confectioner’s sugar and milk and whisk it so that there are no lumps.
    • Drizzle this glaze on each fritter.
    • Peach Fritters are now ready. Serve and enjoy.

    Tip:

    • You can also coat with cinnamon sugar or just sprinkle powdered sugar instead of glaze if desired.
    • The time to cook fritters may vary depending on the size of the fritter.
    • Do not overcrowd the pan. Depending on the size of the pan, adjust the number and size of the fritters.
    • See that the oil is not too hot or too cold (should be between 330 to 365 F). If its too hot then the fritters will turn dark brown very quickly and will not be cooked inside, and if its too cold it will absorb excess oil.
    • To check if the oil is hot, just drop a little piece of the batter mix and check if it sizzles and comes up.

I love this twist on fritters. I make banana so often but never tired peaches. Now they are in season so I must try soon. Cinnamon sounds so flavorful. Saving for later.
