Peaches and Cream Dessert is a simple and easy-to-make classic summer treat prepared using fresh peaches and heavy cream.
One of the best recipe to try using fresh peaches other than my favorite
Fresh fruit and cream is one of my favorite dessert recipes to satisfy all my sweet cravings. I also call it my weekend time-pass dessert and I do have a reason for that. After a week full of cooking, photoshoot, writing down recipes, social media, and whatnot, I really love to take time off from all of these and relax, spend time with my family 🙂
My family loves desserts and for me to spend less time in the kitchen and more with my family, plus keep their tummy happy is a win-win situation. This is one such recipe. Some alternate to peaches include:
Why Peaches and Cream is a popular summertime dessert?
Peaches are in season during summer and on these hot days, nobody likes to spend hours in the kitchen. You always look for something quick and cold. This is one easy cold dessert you can try.
There is no recipe as such for peaches and cream. As per the name, it actually needs only 2 ingredients peaches and cream (not whipped). The sugar is added only if the peaches are not sweet enough. Vary all the ingredients to adjust to your and your family's liking.
I have shared two ways in which you can make peaches and cream. The first one is by making simple sugar syrup. Preparing simple syrup hardly takes 5 minutes and in the second method, you simply sprinkle sugar, no cooking needed. I love both ways.
If you are looking for an easy make-ahead breakfast, snack, or dessert recipe, then you should definitely try this out.
Ingredients for Peaches and Cream Dessert
4 fresh Peaches (use more or less as needed)
¼ cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
2 tablespoon Water
1 to 1 ½ cups Heavy cream (not whipped)
Steps to prepare Peaches and Cream Dessert ( 2 ways)
Method I
Step I (How to cut peaches)
- Cut the peaches in half along the crease till you hit the pit.
- Hold the peach in your palm and twist to separate two segments.
- Loosen the pit with a knife and then remove it with your fingers.
- Now peel and cut into slices. Cut each slice into halves or of the desired size.
Step II (Prepare syrup)
- If the peaches you are using are super sweet, you don't have to make this syrup. The peaches that I bought were just sweet. Depending on the sweetness of the peaches, you will have to vary the amount of sugar. I generally go with a 2:1 ratio for sugar to water.
- Add sugar and water to a saucepan. Let the sugar dissolve and boil for 5 to 8 minutes, and form a syrup. Stir the peaches till it is coated in this syrup.
- Let this simmer for another 1 minute.
- Transfer it to a bowl and let this cool down completely.
Step III
- Transfer the peaches along with syrup to a large mixing bowl. Add heavy cream and stir to combine.
- Divide mixture into serving glass. Cover it with plastic wrap and chill overnight so that cream absorbs all the flavor and becomes sweet. If you are in hurry to eat, then serve at room temperature. Else, serve this dessert cold, after chilling in the refrigerator for at least 3 to 4 hours.
Method II
- Divide the pitted, peeled, and sliced peaches into serving glasses. Sprinkle sugar depending on the sweetness of the peaches to each glass. Finally, pour the heavy cream over each serving.
- For best results, cover and chill it for at least 3 hours.
How to make healthy peaches and cream?
- Use less sugar or no sugar or try sugar substitutes like honey.
- Replace cream with half and half milk or non-dairy milk for a vegan version.
Can I use nectarines instead of peaches?
Yes. you can use nectarines here.
