    The most famous and biggest Indian festival - Diwali or Deepavali, is celebrated from Thursday, 31st October 2024, to Saturday, 2nd November 2024. Food plays a key role in Indian Diwali celebrations, and a variety of food recipes are prepared and shared with friends and families.     What is Diwali?

    Deepavali is a Sanskrit word that means "row of lights or festival of lights," and Deepawali is the term commonly used in South India, and in North India, it is called Diwali. The word Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.

    These traditional Indian sweets or mithai recipes are easy to make at home and will be a super hit at your home this Diwali festival celebration or party.     Dahi Poha - Grandmom's traditional way to start Diwali celebration

    • 1 cup Dahi (Yogurt or Curd)
    • 2 to 3 tablespoon Sugar
    • 1 cup Thin Poha flakes
    • Sweet Poha (Panchakajjaya)
    • Roasted nuts (optional)

    Instructions
     

    • In a bowl, add dahi and sugar and mix. You can add pomegranate seeds, roasted cashews, and almonds if desired.
      1 cup Dahi, 2 to 3 tablespoon Sugar, Roasted nuts
    • Just before serving, mix poha as needed.
      1 cup Thin Poha flakes
    • Serve it with sweet poha.

    • We start our day with pooja and dahi poha, and sweet poha (panchakadayi) are offered to God in the form of Naivedyam and then served. 
    • The previous day of Diwali, ragi manni (duddali) or rice duddali is prepared.
